Which milk should I use? I love my milk and could drink gallons of the stuff, at the moment I drink low fat milk, should I change to Soya or rice milk and am I getting enough vitamins from slim milk?

Unless you are a vegetarian, leave the soy out, carry on with low fat milk but in proportions.

I used to use rice milk for smoothies etc. but I went on a low glycemic diet pland and found out that rice milk is not low glycemic. I guess soy or buttermilk or non-fat, 1 or 2 PER CENT would be best. at least thats what it says on my diet plan.

Stick with low fat milk it is still rich in vitamin but half the calories.

I have a friend who I think is somewhat addicted to milk. He does drink skim milk most of the time so that is good-- but he drinks anywhere from a half to three quarters of a gallon per day.
I'm not sure why, but intuitively this seems unhealthy and excessive. He is also a bit heavy and probably pre-diabetic.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this might be too much milk?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Have I read that too much calcium can cause kidney stones? This may be an unwanted side effect of this excessive milk intake. Also if he is diabetic then you may need to check the sugar content of what he drinks. My house prefers 1percent milk and really just dislike the taste of whole milk- too heavy!

I personally drink skim milk. It's the best out of skim, one percent, and two percent.

Whichever milk you drink, go with non-pasturized, organic. You can't buy it in a store but have to get it from a farmer. Also, most skim milk has added ingredients to make it more palatable as true skim milk is very thin and bluish.
