I have been walking for exercise for almost ten years and although I love to do this I just feel I need more now that I have gotten older. I hate workout DVDs. Any advice on what I can add?

do you ever do any strength training? Lifting some weights a few times a week can be a great solution and good for in between your cardio workouts.

if you're looking to boost your routine while walking, try increasing your incline. If you use a treadmill, go up .5 or 1 at a time. If you walk outside, try a new neighborhood or park with more exteme highs and lows for incline.

I have read a lot that adding some spints to your regular walk can really help boost your results. When they are talking of short sprints, how long do they really mean? Is this for 30 seconds, 1 minute or whatever you can handle? I am just getting started so I am torn between not wanting to hurt myself but also wanting to get the maximum results in a shorter period of time. Help me with my ignorance and impatience.

You should try a rebounder. I have one, although I don't use it much but my husband uses it all the time. You can do burst training or the 12 minute makeover or anything, and it is very easy on the joints. :)

I am sorry but I have no idea what a rebounder is. Could you explain that to me?

A rebounder is a small trampoline, but it is special. There are some that you can purchase at Walmart etc, but you have to make sure you are getting a good quality one. I personally purchased mine on internet and it was about $250. It has many many benefits. As you are jumping up and down it is helping to rid the toxins out of your system. Just google "rebounder". Happy reading!:)

That is so interesting! I can't wait to do some research on this myself and hopefully save the money so that I can add this to my routine!

I do get bored with walking too so I definitely have to have my iPod with me all the time. I did not get one until Christmas and now I do not know how I ever made it thru exercising without it!
