Most muscles and organs in your body attach to the skeleton. The spinal nerves pass through openings in your spine, to communicate with these muscles and organs. When your bones get out of alignment, through an accident, stress or disease, you feel pain when nerves are pinched or as other muscles try to adjust to the new situation. Chiropractic is the science of bringing the bones back into alignment so that your body can heal itself and return to a state of health and equilibrium

I vote for a reputable spa with lovely aromatherapy options, herbal tea (or a glass of wine). You know a totally pampering, relaxing experience. THis is a great stress reliever. My sweet husband gets me a gift certificate at every possible occassion. Makes me smile and remember I'm an adult ( not just my kids' mom)!

I've read some people swear by them, others don't. Does anyone have a personal story that made them not like going? Or is it just the idea of going for some people?

I have a neutral opinion. I've been, but I didn't get a lot out of it. It was alarming to feel some of the adjustments. I don't think their was any harm done to me though.

I would also love some feedback on those who claim they can help everything from back ailments to ADD. What is that all about? I am not saying I do not believe in them because I do think they help some people. But those other ailments they claim to be able to help? Come on!

My husband goes occasionally and it does help his back, but I agree that some of them are making claims that seem a little off to me. I think they can do some good things but we have to remember that in essence they are not medical doctors.

Most chiropractors do not claim to fix anything, if they do, watch out! Your body is what fixes everything, you. The nervous system runs and controls EVERYTHING. If there is any damage to the nerves, subtle or massive, the nerves die and ultimately the organs and tissues. For example, if the part of the spinal cord that controls behavior is pinched--ADD (behavior problems). If this pressure is removed, behavior problems subside or eliminate...
Maximized Living, what I have found, offers not only the chiropractic approach, but others as well. Nutrition, Exercise, Stress/Time Management, Toxicity. If your doctor can address ALL of these areas, you reach optimum potential. Your chiropractor did not do this...YOU DID!!

Are there practitioners of more holistic health who could better help in these areas?
