I've always wanted to try a chiropractor but am honestly scared. Does it hurt or anything? It looks painful. I'd love to hear somebodies experiences.

i love my chiropractor. It doesn't hurt at all, just sounds weird when getting adjusted. Before going, go to your regular family doctor, your insurance may pay a larger percent if sent by referral. Let us know how it feels.

I have a true fear of going to a chiropractor. The anticipation of bones cracking just makes me want to cringe. Do you think that regular massage could be just as beneficial as chiropractic adjustments? this seems like it would be more my speed.

I think that chiropractic work and massage together make a great combo. You can always get a referral from a good therapist for a chiropractor who knows just waht he or she is doing. You may even find a team in an office together. But massage can be great- relaxing and beneficial!

No offense to anyone who visits one, but can you say quack? Give me good stretching and an orthopaedist if need be. Do my bones really need to crack like that. Yeack!!!

maryped you just made up my mind for me- I have always thought chiropractic was a little off for me and you just confirmed that. I am glad it works for some but I think I will take another route.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 14 and was encouraged by the orthopedist to get a rod placed in my spine to straighten it. I'm glad my mother did not listen and I used a brace instead. As an adult, I began to go to a chiropractor and today I have a normal back curve. I saw my chiropractor twice a week at first but now see him once or twice a month as needed. I find my extra weight is giving me trouble with my posture. As for the fear, for me it was fear of the unknown. Now I look forward to the sounds of everything popping back into place.
