do cheat days really work? i've heard it can actually bump up metabolism to have a high calorie day or meal. I like the idea of taking every saturday off. any experience with this ?

It's a great philosophy but I've found my dedication wavers. If I miss a few workouts, then I'll miss a few more, then I have to start all over again. For me, it is absolute consistency!

I do one cheat day a week, it helps me get through the week, eating wisely, then on a day of my choosing, usually Sunday, I eat what I want. Then I go back to dieting the rest of the week. Sometimes I waver and have a hard time getting back, but usually I do o.k. I like this method, and it works for me.

I can't do a cheat day or i go totally crazy. Sometimes I do a cheat meal. I save up all my cravings during the week and then the strongest craving is usually what i get on my cheat meal. (Fetuccini Alfredo)

I heard one of the trainers on the Biggest Loser say that they even allow their contestants one cheat day per wekk. He said this has a positive impact on the metabolism and that it gives them a little reward for all of the hard work they have done so far.

My husband and I do a "cheat day" once a week. We don't consider ourselves being on a diet, it is actually our "new lifestyle". We are much happier eating healthier, actually feel better about ourselves.

I too allow a cheat day every week. I try not to go too crazy but I do allow myself to eat pretty much anything I want that day as long as I still get my walk or run in, and this has not hampered my weight loss efforts at all. In fact it remotivated me a little for the upcoming week as I typically make Saturday my cheat day and start anew on Sunday.
