I have noticed this growing trend of younger and younger girls expressing displeasure with their bodies and talking about being fat. I think this is horrifying, because somewhere down the road this is going to develop into some real self-esteem issues for many young girls and women. What can we do to stop this self loathing that is becoming epidemic?

I have caught myself saying in front of the kids things like "i'm so darn fat" "don't be fat like me, stay fit" "wish i could fit into that dress" etc.... I need to refrain from such negative statements and instead teach healthy habits instead of skinny habits.

We do have to be careful about what we say in front of our kids. They take so much more to heart than we realize, so we all need to develop a healthier self image so that this will make its way to them. Easier said than done though right?

It is easier said than done. All of our lives we have had these images of the ideal woman propped up in front of us and very rarely are there any of us who can live up to these body standards. But it can be so damaging to everyone's self esteem we don't know what the right weight is for anyone anymore!
