My thyroid used to be very overactive and then I had radioactive iodine treatment, in an effort to slow it down but it has completely stopped functioning. I have to take Synthroid now every day forever I guess. Do you guys know of any alternatives that others could consider before having to do something this radical and being committed to the meds for life?

I encourage you to do your research ahead of time. I ddi not and had the radioactive procedure done by going with the advice of my doctor. It was upposed to slow it down but now I too have to take Synthroid everyday. Wish I had asked more questions before blindly taking the advice of just one medical professional.

Oh I have heard this from so many people and it is like we do not learn our lesson until it is too late! So sorry for that! There are so many younger and older women as well who suffer with thyroid issues that are not properly checked or treated so we have to all stick together and do waht we can to get the issue out there.
